I think you’ve been attempting to back up your assertion that we 'packed the midfield', Alex.

Conceding we play 4-3-3 doesn’t fit that view

We had no more men in midfield than Chelsea.

For me it's a set up of 4-1-4-1 but is changing constantly through the game.

Someone should tell this idiot

Rice, alongside fellow central midfielders Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang, dominated the middle of the park to enable the front men of Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson, and Andriy Yarmolenko to get at the Toffees backline

Fucking 4-3-3 now!

That shocks me too Rusta and not sure why people would argue we are not settling up as 4-1-4-1.
Funny old world

I’m shocked some people can’t see we play completely differently now compared to under fat Sam.
I don’t care about formations we are always trying now to knock it about on the floor. Playing it around in triangles. It might not always come off but we are trying to play football the way I like to see it

Funny you should say that I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed that our formation changes every minute of the game maybe I could get into this formation shit after all

peterborough

I could show you a picture that clearly shows our formation was 6-3-1, wanna see it?

We might have been defending fairly deeply at the time, but it's a great fucking picture and proves beyond a doubt what our formation was!

Every formation is somewhat of a subjective judgement. I don't think this means that the shape picked was particularly flexible. It's a much more rigid structured approach than what we saw in the first four games.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread
So apart from everyone agreeing we played a back four in our last two games the formation we played in front of them seems to be a subjective judgement. So on Sunday we spent much of the time as a 4 5 1 when defending and a 4 3 3 when we went on a rare sortie. The formation ahead of the back 4 is flexible and since Wilshere has been out it has afforded us the inadvertent benefit of defending more effectively. I reckon too that Sunday’s team would have got us a point against Wolves.

>>> We did not play 4141 against Chelsea, anyone with two working eyes could see that.

Just say that then. Why go for the rabid personal attacks?

My opinion is 4-3-3 and 4-1-4-1 are essentially the same formation. You disagree - fine.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - The Official Match Thread
Fucking hell you are a dullard.

"I think 4-1-4-1 is by far the best description of how we set up vs Everton and Chelsea"

We did not play 4141 against Chelsea, anyone with two working eyes could see that.

Feel free to continue arguing until you carer disconnects you from the internet.

My argument throughout is that 4-3-3 is a fair and correct way to describe the current formation. What exactly are you arguing against? Read the posts again.
